September has marked the official sales launch for houses at the new eco-development in Erith; The Quarry. Now that the marketing suite has been unveiled to the public, we got a sneak peek inside one of the 600 new homes which are coming to the area.
As you enter The Quarry, you’ll notice straight away that the site benefits from an unexpected view across the development towards the River Thames. These views will only improve over time as the ecology corridor and village green are revealed, as well as a 3.25 hectare ecology area.
It’s also easy to imagine the real sense of community that new residents will experience when heading out of their front door, fuelled by the sights of children enjoying the development’s play corridor and open green spaces. The Quarry will also feature a brand new, state-of-the-art primary school which will provide places for around 600 children; the school’s circular shape will maximise natural daylight and enable flexible learning space for children of the local community.
All houses at The Quarry will include modern features, starting with the hub of any family home - the kitchen.
Kitchens will all be equipped with innovative and modern Beko appliances, including an ‘Ecosmart’ multifunction fan oven – which allows dishes to be cooked at two different temperatures.
The fridge freezer, which blends seamlessly into the cabinets, is fitted with special lights which help preserve the taste and vitamins in your fruit and vegetables.
As standard in every home at The Quarry, bathrooms feature underfloor heating to keep residents’ feet toasty when they step out of their new bath or shower first thing in the morning.
Every home will have its own garden area, with many benefitting from outdoor spaces on two levels, including a mix of gardens, decking and terraces.
At The Quarry, the environment is of great significance, demonstrated by the large ecology area located on the development. Maintaining this ethos within the homes themselves, all houses will generate their own renewable energy. Gardens will be fitted with an air source heat pump which extracts heat from the air and uses it to help provide heating and hot water requirements for the homes across the development – cutting both costs and emissions.
These new homes are located just a short walk from Erith train station which takes you to London Bridge and Cannon Street stations in under an hour.
Furthermore, with local town Abbey Wood due to provide a Crossrail link to London’s city centre, there will be even more connections for those looking to make the most of a family-friendly home within close proximity to some of London’s commuter hotspots. Ideally, all houses will also come with at least one undercroft parking space, reducing the visible presence of cars on the street.
The development will include up to 470 houses for private sale, and a further 130 apartments for rent. For first time buyers, The Quarry offers a number of Shared Ownership properties, and London Help to Buy is available on all eligible homes. If you want to take a look for yourself, The Quarry’s marketing suite is available to view by appointment Thursday through Monday, 10am – 5pm, and 10am - 4pm on Sunday.
