Over 400 people attended the family fun day at The Quarry on Saturday (15 October) to find out more about the exciting development of new homes set to launch in Erith in spring 2017.
Local residents had the chance to meet with developers L&Q and the Anderson Group, as well as Studio Egret (the architects behind the development) and a specialist ecologist. Visitors also enjoyed a range of activities from animal face painting and panning for “gold” to an appearance from children’s TV personality Jess French.
In addition, there was the opportunity to see the site from a viewing platform which offered an experience of the sweeping views towards the River Thames and Rainham Marshes that will be afforded to many of the new homes.
The event was attended by Councillor Linda Bailey, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Growth, Leader of the Council Cllr Teresa O’Neill and Teresa Pearce MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government
Cathy Lloyd Sales & Marketing Director at L&Q, said: “We’re thrilled to be delivering this exciting eco-development of up to 600 new homes and a state-of-the-art primary school for the people of Erith. The fun day was a great way to welcome the community to The Quarry and talk to people about everything this exceptional development will have to offer. Erith quarry has played an important role in the lives of local people for many years and we are pleased to be involved with the next chapter of its history.”
Jess French, star of Cbeebies Minibeast Adventure, said: “It was great to be a part of The Quarry’s fun day. I loved chatting to local Erith children about all the amazing creatures they can find in their patch! I look forward to seeing The Quarry come to life and provide homes for lots of wildlife, as well as inspiring local people to connect with their natural environment.”
